Pallet wood/Mason Jar wall decor

First I'd like to say - I LOVE PINTEREST!  Check out an idea I found on the site and how easy it was to make!

1) You know those pallets I had left from my tin wall project?  I used 1 board to create these.

2)  I cut the board in 1/2 and sanded down the cut edge.

3) I then stained the wood with the grey stain I had left over from the pallet bookshelf project.

4) Following that I painted the piece with leftover white paint from my garage.

5) After the paint dried, I sanded the pieces down for the "aged" look then sprayed a coat of poly over it.

6) I also stole 2 of hubbies mason canning jars (he loves to pickle his veggies in the summertime).  To those I spray painted 2 of the tops black.

Waiting for paint/poly to dry is like waiting for water to boil so I took a trip to Lowes and purchased the hook and chain to connect my mason jar.

7) When I got home I drilled 2 holes in the top of the lid in order to connect my chain.  Drilling the holes and connecting the chain takes a bit of elbow grease and patience.  Remember, patience.

Here is the end result.  Right now I have tealight candles in them but will be on the lookout for something a bit larger.  These will be hung in the dining room on either side of my tin wall decor or the galvanized wall clock I'm waiting to come back in stock.  Can't wait to get them hung!

I found this idea on Pinterest (again but of course).  Love how they turned out!
