So much better than having our trashcans out in the open now.
Welcome to our blog, a spin-off our our family blog which I was awful at keeping up to date. This site was specifically created to keep track of our special projects around the house in order to inspire others as they have done for us. Happy crafting!

Phil's trash bin project
So I'm lucky enough to be one of those wives who finds things on Pinterest and my hubby says "I can make that" and ta-da, it's done. Take a look at the great trash can bin Phil made recently. LOVE IT!

Another great weekend of antiquing
I finally found my chicken nest for the dining room wall! Not only that, Phil and I found this really cool metal orb at the Green Bean in Alpharetta last weekend and he made our new breakfast area chandelier today. He's so handy. Here are the pics!
Orb to chandelier - LOVE IT!
Chicken nest - I'll be cleaning this up tomorrow and will take pics when it's up on the wall.
Tobacco basket with Flowers
And I finally finished my tin/pallet wood project for the dining room. It's all coming together. These will go on either side of the chicken nest above.
oh, and here's the milk jug with flowers from Joann Fabrics as well as the metal milk crates that we hung in the guest bathroom.

This weekend's great finds
What a gorgeous weekend! Phil and I took another trip up to NC to our favorite salvage shop where he found these awesome new garage lights and I got a steal on this tobacco basket and 2 smaller fabric spools (not shown) for more candlesticks! I'll add those pictures later.
I also picked up this cool wall decor piece at the local Green Bean and I purchased the clock mechanics at Michaels today. Wala - a new kitchen clock! Easy Peasy

Home Decor
**Before I get started, these are also listed in the "great antique/auction finds" page. Don't forget to check those pages out, I do make updates to them occasionally!
So these items are also show grouped together in my new decorations post below, but I wanted to show them up close. Love the coziness these bring to our home. It feels so much more inviting.

another take on the box spring/candle idea. I like how the clear crystal doesn't take away from the "look".
Old fabric spools - love it!
This will be the centerpiece of our new farmhouse table which is currently being built. Check out my Pinterest page for my plans for this chicken feeder.
$20 Milk Jug find on Craigslist - SWEET!
Our new Garage!
Well, I couldn't have all the fun updating the house. Phil got a little manliness as well. I really think this is going to be the "man cave" versus and actual garage now. Parking in the garage? Pfft! lol
THANK YOU to Garage Solutions Atlanta for our Monkey Bar System and to Randy Ray and crew for the excellent paint job both in the garage and interior!!

The space between the tool cart and the frig is left open for a storage cabinet we haven't purchased yet.

New Decorations!
Thanks to my awesome sidekick, Lori, this weekend's shopping spree was a success! Now she just needs to come by to put everything in it's rightful place. As you can see below, we found some great treasures for the bookshelves but they need some reorganizing. Lori is the master of that! We shopped at local antique stores and HomeGoods. I also picked up the new lampshade at Lowes yesterday, large P was from Hobby Lobby, and the small P was at Michaels. I did have some of the other items already!

update on home progress
Here you go! Before/After.
Starting off with the easy stuff - the baseboards and trim are all getting a fresh coat of white as are the stairs. Right now the stair risers are just primed which is why you see all the scuffs.
Downstairs bathroom. I have repainted this bathroom probably 4 times on my own and I just can't get it right. This time I'm leaving it to the professionals. I've chosen Sherwin Williams Silver Strand (#7057) as the color.
Kitchen - here we're going from screaming yellow to Ben Moore Light Khaki (#2148-40). You can see the actual color in the pic of the back door. We're painting the kitchen to match the existing living room color. And yes, I'm painting over the mural in the niche. I'm really bummed about it b/c I think it's beautiful but sadly it just will not go with the new theme.

And finally the Dining Room. This one I left to the professionals b/c I am not tackling this red. We've chosen Sherwin Williams Repose Gray (#7015) for this room. After all is said/done, the downstairs will be a very neutral pallet to get us ready to put this bad boy on the market in spring, 2016. :-)
